SAGE 3644
The SAGE has six inputs for EAS messages. These six monitors are scanned simultaneously for Emergency Alerts. WJON IP utilizes all 6 of these EAS Channels. The SAGE 3644, unlike the SAGE 1822, has the ability to pull iPAWS CAP, and includes many improvements over the blue box. This equipment runs Rev96.
Here are the SAGE monitors and their assigned use:
- Monitor 1 – Used for NWR in local area and local AM/FM. Radio used for NWR is a Reecom 1650-A*.
- Monitor 2 – Local AM/FM Radio
- Monitor 3 – Local AM/FM Radio
- Monitor 4 – TFT EAS 911 Patch from computer
- Monitor 5 – WeatherScan 24/7 Software ENDEC
- Monitor 6 – Local AM/FM Radio
* = These inputs are used by the SAGE to detect and remove the 1050hz tone heard at the beginning of alerts over NOAA Weather Radio
SAGE 1822
The SAGE has six inputs for EAS messages. These six monitors are scanned simultaneously for Emergency Alerts. WJON IP Radio used to utilize all 6 of these EAS Channels. This equipment runs software version 6.2.
This equipment is no longer in use and has been replaced by the SAGE 3644
TFT EAS 911
Unlike the SAGE, the TFT records the entire audio for alert processing and sends the alert after EOM signals are recieved.
- Monitor 1 – Local AM/FM (WAIW)
- Monitor 2 – Local AM/FM (WLVW)
- Monitor 3 – Currently not in use
- Monitor 4 – Currently not in use
- Monitor 5 – Not supported on this unit

Gorman Redlich EAS-1
Like the TFT, this encoder will record the entire alert before playing. This is the ENDEC that used to run the WJON IP Local Stream.
This equipment is no longer in use (which actually is a good thing)
Gorman Redlich CAP-DEC
Runs off a Windows 10 32 bit OS on a desktop-type computer
This equipment is no longer in use (thank goodness)
Virtual Decoder
Special software I use records alerts from an unlimited number of sources and can be played over the monitors to activate the SAGE. This software is not available for download.
